Massages and Fibromyalgia

My personal experience with massages and fibromyalgia.

Recently I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and I really didn’t know what this disease was about.

You find yourself going to the hospital emergency room often with terrible headaches until somebody discovers that it is not only your head that is hurting you, but that this pain is also beginning to spread to your back and joints.

At first I took many remedies for headaches that caused me other symptoms like drowsiness or nausea, so I was never feeling good. This went on until a doctor decided to include therapeutic massage in my treatment.

I stopped working for three months and completely dedicated myself to my health care.

I started with gentle massages that stretched my back and my neck. Professional soft hands made me relax, and after a few sessions I continued with another type of massage that included warm compresses. After these massages, my atrophied muscles that were so tense because of overworking during that previous year finally began to relax. When I finished my treatment after three months, I was ready to go back to exercising in a gym again.

My body had taken shape again and my medication usage was very minimal; I took just enough to sleep well at night.

Should You Stop Treatment When You Feel Better?

In my case, I decided to continue with my relaxing massages.

Every day in life when you feel like you are on the edge, a short break to take care of your physical well-being is required. This means not only to take care of your food intake, but also to be sure that you eliminate all the toxins that you accumulate daily. The best way to do this is to sweat.

A good massage makes you sweat, and if you don’t do yoga or have another type of relaxation technique that you enjoy, this is the best way to stay in shape. Even when you do regular exercise, a massage is a different sort of relaxation. Both are healthy, but falling into the hands of a good therapist is more than rewarding and highly recommended.

What Do My Friends Tell Me When They See Me Now?

My friends are surprised when they see me today.

Two years have passed, and I follow an almost religious routine. I go out to walk twice a day with my dog, take care of my diet and go to my massage therapist twice a week.

I should maybe go to the gym, but I prefer the massage therapist, who always makes me feel fine.

Types of Massage I Recommend

I’ve become fond of the Oriental trends. They are a contribution that brings East to West with all forms of massages, for example, reflexology and shiatsu, among others.

· Reflexology massage: This is when the therapist uses an application of pressure onto particular areas of the soles of your feet using hands, fingers and a wood stick with oil and cream.

· Shiatsu: In this massage, therapists use mainly the fingers of their hands, but some of them use also elbows, forearms and feet to improve your blood circulation.

These types of massages create the perfect balance in your body. I recommend them if you want to experience a new sort of relaxation. I think that good health is all a matter of determination and discipline.
